Well of Sin

Writer's picture: James BrownJames Brown

I wade in waters that surround me,

I slush through like a hunter in the forest.

Though leaves fall by my side, though shivers reach my spine,

I will not waver, nor rest.

I walk with my own cross to the Skull,

I drag through each step of dust to the mountain.

A river forms behind me from the weight of my sin,

Through my sins, God has plowed a field.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil, for thine is with me.

I shine with a light through my heart,

With the love of the Son, the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Words escape my tongue, but not of man.

Words reach a page, but not of my own mind.

God speaks through all of us, if we allow,

With Faith holding true to the worlds of time.

Parables fall from the Bible with teachings,

Deaf ears yell the words read to the sky.

True believers walk through shadows,

Though Jesus shows a thin line walking through.

Shadows will cover my face, my hands and my sight,

I will bump into walls and fall from holes.

Though I will strengthen his name while I surpass,

These demons that gnaw on my flesh.

I rebuke the disgust from my face,

Whether fasting, praying or weak.

Only God and the Devil will know my battles,

As one is my enemy, and the other my ally.

God is GOOD!
