Adam and Eve started our story,
Though first to live, they were also first to sin.
While the serpent thought he defiled mankind,
The timeline only stops when God says when.
While brother against brother started early,
Abel and Cain show us that family issues are real.
Just as death was brought to Abel,
Confession from Abel's blood still revealed.
While most know of Noah, the ark and the flood,
Most forget why God even sent the rain.
Evil was rampant within the world,
Satan still thinking mankind was made in vain.
Just as sin is presently seen above being good,
This world ignores the soil or those that sow.
Many promises God hopes on you to request,
Just as the promise after the rain is the rainbow.
Abraham, though longsuffering for a son,
Even withstood the laughter of his wife.
Holding to the promise of God of a seed planted,
Stricken in old age, a barren womb caused strife.
Holding a promise from God above feeling,
We see Abraham as though he had great faith.
Bringing Issac to the mount before God,
A ram behind him shows as he sayeth.
Issac brought forth two sons that could not agree,
Jacob and Esau, describing their conflict in name.
Esau thinking his blessing was stolen by deceit,
Jacob running after it for the fear and shame.
While Esau stayed and enjoyed the blessing thought gone,
Jacob would tire and find rocks as a pillow of rest.
Upon dreams where God begins to show him promise,
Adjourned for fourteen years to find a wife to nest.
Joseph with visions of righteousness in dreams,
Caught nothing but jealously from his brothers.
Though mankind had plans of defeat against him,
God had Joseph's path planned and covered.
Given the chance to get even with his brethren,
Joseph held the wrongdoers aside for the youngest be obtained.
Grief filled his heart as the new brother arrived,
As God promised, Joseph over his brothers reigned.
Though this is just the book of beginnings,
Know that God awaits to carry you, start to finish.
Though you may have dreams that seem farfetched,
A promise from God does not diminish.
Jesus' sacrifice is fruitful soil for us to be planted,
His life was the law with an amendment to mend.
With such love and forgiveness capable for all of us,
His teaching, with acceptance, allows us to transcend.
