Following Crumbs to Walking Hand-In-Hand

Writer's picture: James BrownJames Brown

For my life, I have merely been picking up the crumbs,

The path being led by my true leader of my life.

I have been blessed with two loving children,

I have been beyond blessed with love from my wife.

Desperation that this world and flesh show me,

Sadness from what did not happen from my requests.

See beyond today’s smiles that shine within my life,

To see the tears from prior quests.

The struggle that built the platform I currently stand,

The foundation that was built by God, not man.

The focus and attention to my suffering with care,

The moments that weakened my knees to not stand, but to pray.

Yet I stood when done praying to God,

Humbleness was required to suppress my pride.

The will to be ok with the unknown of my future,

Knowing that through prayer I did not need to hide.

Whatever the task required by a job or a career,

From understanding robots to countries wanting my head.

God would not allow the task to be beyond me,

He focused my mind to align with what He said.

The promise He gave us all upon creation,

The promise of fruitful life within His love.

The promise of the unknown to be and ending in success,

The promise from Him giving his only Son.

A love so strong that, once felt, will break your heart,

The love that carries us beyond our own lust.

For the flesh is a powerful weapon of true evil,

Yet even through God’s love, the flesh will bust!

An overpour of emotion that must show what true love is.

Even with an active practice and training of talking with Him.

When I feel his talk with me go beyond my own thoughts,

My flesh cannot contain nor hide my disappointment of my sin.

Now, beyond the crumbs that lead me to where I am now,

I stand walking without need for a path to get me there.

Rather than needing to know answers before walking,

I'm hand and hand with God with my own cross to bear.
