And you stay.
You stay when my thoughts become vomit on the ground, and my tears fog up the room.
When I damage my possessions, when I make the walls bleed.
When I can’t shake you with my lyrics, and you don’t fault me for my admissions.
You always stay in Rhythm with my galloping heart.
You don’t flinch when I throw my fists into the air.
Indeed, you wipe the spit from my mouth when I’m screaming obscenities into the dark corners of my mind.
And while my mind is a whirlwind of thunder and lightning and the windows of my eyes see only darkness, you blanket my room in protection.
At times when my world ceases, and I plead you’ll let me stop existing. I find you beating the war drums that echo ambition in my ears.
You take me for what I am and meet me where I’m at.
Down in the valley, or cliff diving off the peaks of my aggressions, it is then you see me.
And you stay.
